WHAT CAN I DO?

Our friends in conversations almost unanimously agree that Congress is not fulfilling its responsibilities – that it is broken. They are frustrated and even angry!

Thus, there is huge quiescent support for meaningful and permanent change.

We must harness all of that support because amending our constitution is not easy. Proposing change by the “convention” method – to avoid asking Congress to do it – requires application by the legislatures of two-thirds of the states and subsequently ratification of the amendment. This ratification must be either by the legislatures of three-fourths of the states or by the conventions in three-fourths of the states. These requirements are tough – for good reason. But, they can be met because there is such widespread disgust with the present inability of Congress to solve our problems. There is no way the drive for this amendment will succeed if it isn’t bipartisan. Left and right, Democrats, Republicans and Independents must understand its importance and demand it!
